1. Is the Jericho School District administering the Driver’s
Education Program?
As a requirement of the State Education Department and the Department
of Motor Vehicles, the school district must serve as the umbrella organization
in order to provide students with a “blue card” (MV-285) upon
the successful completion of the course.
2. What is a “blue card’” (MV-285)?
A “blue card” (MV-285) is the document issued that permits
a student to begin his/her senior license (class D) privileges before
their 18th birthday. It also provides for eligibility for a reduction
of insurance premium.
3. Why are the checks made out to the Jericho School District?
The school district receives the checks for $450. By agreement with the
Klobus driving school we pay a portion of the money to the driving school
for the “in-car” portion of the course. The remainder of the
funds covers the cost of the in-classroom instruction which will be provided
by Mr. Ed. Klobus.
4. Is there any cost to the School District?
There is NO direct cost to the taxpayers of the Jericho School District.
5. Whose insurance covers this program?
The Klobus Driving School has sufficient insurance to meet the district’s
requirement for the “in-car” driving instruction. The regular
school district policy covers our in-classroom instruction.
6. When is Driver Education offered during the school year?
Fall, winter, and spring sessions are offered.
