WELCOME TO                       MS. HEDERIAN’S               CLASS RULES!

Rules and Expectations for my classroom:

The rules I have for my classroom are very simple and straightforward: be responsible for yourself and be respectful of others. If you put forth honest effort and you have a good attitude, you will do very well.

Grading Policy:

Most tests and quizzes I give are out of 100 points.  Essays are assigned letter grades, and I use the rubric provided by the NYS Regents to evaluate your writing.  Homework is given a test grade at the end of the quarter and is worth 25%.  Tests, quizzes, essays and other assignments are all worth 50%. Extra credit may be offered when students take the initiative to go beyond my requirements.

Participation:

I place a premium on class time because I believe the lion’s share of your learning should happen in the classroom.  Don’t you? Therefore, active participation is essential to your success. 25% of your quarter grade will measure your participation.  Effective participation includes asking questions, offering comments or suggestions, raising your hand, responding to others, taking notes, reading aloud, etc.  If you are quiet or shy, try to raise your hand at least once a week.

Extra Help:

Come to my 11th period classroom after school any day of the week, and I will work with you for a half hour. Or, if after school is too busy for you, make an appointment.

Communication:

Email is a wonderful way for us to communicate.  I can’t promise I’ll read everything before we see one another in class again, but feel free to use my school email if you think you need my help. It’s mhederian@jerichoschools.org
