In order to raise awareness of world hunger and the global disparity in food security, the students in Team 7B participated in Jericho Middle School's annual Hunger Banquet. As the students entered the library, they were given different colored cards, which represent the three income groups in our world. Each income level received a corresponding meal: the 15 percent in the high-income tier were served a gourmet meal; the 25 percent in the middle-income section ate a simple meal of Cheerios and milk; and the 60 percent in the low-income tier were air-dropped a small bag of Cheerios. The students completed a quiz on facts related to world-wide hunger. In addition, the students watched videos and listened to songs that depicted the growing number of people who struggle to survive on a daily basis and brainstormed how they can help alleviate world hunger.
