Rachel Scott was a remarkable young lady who believed
that if you are kind to others,
"You just may start a chain reaction."
Rachel was killed at Columbine High School on April 20,
1999, but her beliefs have been
developed into a program for schools to promote kindness and compassion.
Mr. Gately invited Larry Scott, Rachel's uncle, to speak to Jericho
Middle School students and encourage them to accept Rachel's Challenge.
The five parts of Rachel's Challenge are:
- Elimate Prejudice - by looking for the best in others.
- Dare to Dream - Set Goals. - Keep a Journal.
- Choose your Influences - input determines output.
- Kind Words - Small acts of kindness = HUGE impact.
- Start a Chain Reaction with family and friends.
